“Lighting Vignettes” is a continuing series of DVD's designed to teach you lighting technique in a fashion that will not only improve your skills, but change the way you think about light. Each individual disk discusses a very specific topic related to production and walks you through all of what Walter Graff does and thinks as he creates the award winning looks he lights on screens every day. Production value is basic as two cameras simply follow Walter with both live narration and voice over as he thinks about and sets up scenarios. It’s like a reality show where you follow along as he works through a setup. Walter uses the simplest of equipment so anyone can repeat what he does who has the availability of limited professional equipment. Bill Champ, a DVD customer, describes the style of presentation best; "I really enjoyed your informal,unrehearsed style. It made the material very approachable."
All videos are shot with standard definition DVCAM and Betacam equipment so if you have a newfangled HD system, know that you are getting a standard definition product. While we may shoot future disks on HD equipment, it matters little in terms of learning because whether its a one chip camera or a $100k HD camera, technique is identical. Each vignette covers something specific so you get only what you want, and don’t have to waste money on something you are not interested in. Walter keeps it exciting, interesting, and entertaining in his very conversational presentation. It's raw lighting at its best! If you’ve ever attended his popular lectures, you’ll know what we mean. Each disk is priced not to break the bank and has a lot of great information on each topic told in an easily understandable and entertaining fashion. This is a must-have in any lighting kit. This automated flicker box is capable of making any 20-100 watt lamp randomly flicker creating a special effect for a fireplace look, campfire scene, television set illusion, or theater projection-blade special effect. Walter Graff has used this design for years on many commercials and broadcast television programs. It is inexpensive to own while creating a very cool effect. Pros spend three times the amount on 'professional' flicker boxes that create the same effect. This flicker box features an industrial grade on/off switch, and a three-foot pigtail with male and female edison plugs. It also has a quick release twist plug to replace the starter if it burns out giving you years of use. The unit is protected with a half-amp fuse for safety. Each unit is hand built with care and tested for reliability. It is guaranteed to be free of manufacturing defects for one year from purchase. Imagine a 500 watt dimmer small enough to fit in your hand and compact enough to fit in your shirt pocket. The Pocket Pal is a pefect dimmer designed primarily to handle practicles you may need to dim onlocation. A 300 degree on/off switch allows precise dimming. 3 pin grounded connectors on short cables keep the unit compact. This dimmer will work with any combination of fixtures that together make up 500 watts of power. This is an item to have where size and convenience is key. |
These dimmers are constructed with the finest materials and designed to take abuse. They are ready to plug in and go! They feature a 300 degree rotating knob. While others offer a female outlet built into the side of the box, we find that such a design makes it easier to break the connector. So instead we offer flexible molded pigtails. THIS IS NOT A WATERPROOF DIMMER OR A DIMMER DESIGNED TO BE EXPOSED TO MOISTURE. Fixtures feature a completely grounded system (including chassis) for safety. The unit also contains a replaceable fuse. This dimmer has a great RFI filter which means your lights will not make that annoying ringing sound when dimmed as inexpensive store-bought dimmers make fixtures do. Four versions available; 600 watt, 1000 watt, 1500 watt and 2000 watt. 1500 and 2000 watt dimmers are built to order. Contact Walter if you are interested in the latter two.
